Clients request writing samples from freelancers, but sometimes we don’t have the type of sample they’re looking for or we can’t share a sample because our work is proprietary. I found a great way to create a speculative writing sample: medical writing tests.
I was inspired by Nicole's Medical Test Practice Series. The test was to create an abstract for a conference presentation using unpublished data from a completed study posted on clinicaltrails.gov. Nicole provided links to a review article and clinical trial for guidance which familiarized me with the therapeutic area and led me to additional trials.
Nicole thoroughly reviewed my work and provided valuable feedback. Now I have a new sample to share with clients.
